GDS Systems installed on China's most advanced offshore research platform

We are proud to see our flagship geotechnical testing systems take centre stage aboard China Power Construction’s 520 Offshore Jack-Up Survey and Test Platform - now officially commissioned and in operation thanks to our excellent Chinese partner - Earth Products China Ltd.

The 520 Platform is recognised as China’s most advanced offshore geological survey and research vessel combining automated drilling, in-situ testing and a full laboratory at sea. Designed to handle water depths up to 75m and winds up to Grade 15 - it’s a true engineering marvel.

On board, our EMDCSS Dynamic Cyclic Simple Shear, ELDYN Dynamic Triaxial, and GDSTAS + Bender Element Systems are working together to analyse deep-sea soils with unprecedented precision. These systems measure how offshore foundations respond to waves, earthquakes and other dynamic forces — critical data for the safe design of wind farms, oil & gas platforms and subsea tunnels.

By helping the Central South Survey and Design Institute achieve accurate, low-disturbance testing even in extreme conditions, this project marks another milestone in GDS Instrument’s contribution to global offshore and renewable energy research.

We’re excited to continue supporting partners worldwide who are pushing the boundaries of marine engineering and sustainable energy.
