The 14th European Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering was attended by GDS in September 2007. Through out the week the GDS stand welcomed old friends and new faces alike. GDS was represented by Jerry Sutton throughout the conference with flying visits paid by Karl Snelling and Dr Patrick Hooker.
Conferences are an important feature of life at GDS as they give us an opportunity to meet up with old friends but also to talk to researchers who are at the forefront of geotechnical research. These interactions allow us to maintain our position at the cutting edge of geotechnical engineering laboratory research.
The exhibition in Madrid also provided GDS with an opportunity to launch our new “Entry level” range of products. The ethos behind the entry level range is to make GDS products more accessible to commercial and teaching laboratories as well as our core customers in the advanced research market. The first of which, the Enterprise level digital pressure controller (or ELDPC), was on display and demonstrated. The ELDPC is designed to replace existing manual laboratory pressure systems that use either mercury or are compressed air driven. The ELDPC provides a small, standalone and user friendly pressure source with volume change measurement than can also constitute the first step towards laboratory automation.
Please keep an eye open on our future news bulletins as more products will be added to the entry level range over the next year.
