Diogo Teles has just returned from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil. He installed an Electromechanical Dynamic Cyclic Simple Shear Device (EMDCSS) system with Bender Elements at COPPE's LABTEST Laboratory.
This system allows the determination of the Small Strain Shear Modulus at any of the different stages of Static or Dynamic Simple Shear tests. The EMDCSS will initially test undisturbed soft clay samples obtained by their site investigation team.
