GDS wins Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade Category

GDS Instruments a division of Global Digital Systems Ltd (GDS) is very pleased to announce that we have been presented with the most prestigious corporate award made in the UK – The Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

GDS design, develop and manufacture hardware and software for testing the mechanical properties of soils and rocks.  This technology is important in geotechnical engineering and a key element of infrastructure development.
 
We are delighted to have won the award which has been given to GDS for increasing our overseas earnings by 190% over six years of continuous sustained growth, and for selling over 85% of our production overseas. We have achieved this through a combination of continuous product development, understanding our customer’s requirements and a company wide dedication to customer support.
 
The company uses a mixture of direct sales and sales through agents in a wide spread of markets.  Vigorous efforts have been used to boost sales particularly in the Far East, North America and Europe, resulting in the creation of 16 more jobs in the period.
 
HM The Queen makes the awards on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions. 
 
The award is officially announced on HM The Queen’s birthday – April 21st.  The award will be presented by the Queen to two representatives from GDS and will take place at Buckingham Palace on July 14th.  This will be followed by a presentation to the company at their premises in Hook, Hampshire by one of the Queen's officials at a date yet to be arranged.
