Diogo Teles, Quality Manager at GDS Instruments (GDS), has recently visited Vale SA award-winning Mining Development Centre in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Their laboratory, located in the municipality of Santa Luzia, currently houses the largest diversity of GDS testing systems in Brazil, with a Resonant Column, Cyclic Simple Shear System, and 8 triaxial cells supported by a Bender Element Testing System. Vale's Mining Development Centre carries out a wide range of research, from mine viability studies to tailings characterisation and advanced rock testing. During the visit, Diogo visited construction the site of their new laboratory building and was treated to a lunch of delicious Minas Gerais cuisine.
