GDS' Quality Manager, Diogo Teles, completed the successful installation and training of a Dynamic Triaxial Testing System (DYNTTS) with a Bender Element System upgrade, at the University of Sharjah.

Dan Zanet, Geotechnical Systems Engineer at GDS Instruments, has recently returned from Canada, where he spent a few days visiting Thurber.

In March, GDS’ Geotechnical Systems Engineer Alexis Antoniou, visited the National Institute of Technology Puducherry in India to perform an upgrade on one of their existing GDS systems, and install a new system to their growing laboratory. 

Last month Mike Bulley, Head of Systems Support at GDS Instruments, visited Liberty University in Virginia to install a Triaxial Automated System (GDSTAS) with HKUST unsaturated upgrade.

Macquarie Geotech, recently doubled the Triaxial testing capacity of their Sydney laboratory following the installation of four additional Triaxial Automated systems from GDS Instruments. 

As global concerns increase about the pace of energy transition in accounting for long-term climate risks, the shift from fossil-based energy production to renewable sources, like wind, has been accelerated. Within Taiwan, the national offshore wind allocation plan has set a target of increasing local production to 20GW by 2035.

GDS Instruments recently installed a Quasi Dynamic Triaxial system, with sample ranges up to 150mm at the University of California Davis. The system was purchased with Bender Elements upgrade and expanded data acquisition allowing for future instrumentation upgrades. 

Karl Snelling, Managing Director at GDS, was honoured to be invited to the formal opening of the National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF) at the University of Birmingham.

During the afternoon of the 9^th of March 2018, a mobile slump occurred in an approximately 300 m section of the southern embankment of the Cadia Valley Operations (Cadia) Northern Tailings Storage Facility (NTSF), located in central-west New South Wales, Australia. The embankment slump resulted in a release of tailings from the NTSF, with the released tailings captured within the adjacent South Tailings Storage Facility (STSF).
